Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the AIDS Memorial Quilts with us

image description

The AIDS Memorial Quilt has played an integral role in the remembrance and celebration of the loved ones we've lost to HIV and AIDS over the years, and 2018 marks the 30th Anniversary of the first quilt being presented to the quilt project, back in 1988.

To honour our brothers and sisters we are bringing together a panel of individuals who were heavily involved in the quilt project, and those living with HIV in the 80s and 90s, to speak about their experience, knowledge and memories related to the history of not only the quilts, but the HIV and AIDS response in Aotearoa.

The event will also see the first presentation of a quilt to the project in over 15 years, with the Cartier Trust Quilt being formally presented.

The celebration will be held at One Cascade (1 Cascade Street, Freeman's Bay) at 6pm on Monday the 26th of November.

As well as our panel, we will be hearing from Michael Bancroft, and a speaker thanks to the Positive Speakers' Bureau. Complimentary food and refreshments will be available.

This event is part of the Puāwai Festival, supported by Body Positive, Positive Women Inc & the Positive Speakers' Bureau.
